A Rainier man, 28, was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital Saturday night after he crashed his car about one mile north of Centralia on state Route 507.

According to the Washington State Patrol:

About 9 p.m. Saturday, Joseph S. Biggerstaff was northbound on state Route 507 when he failed to slow for a corner, lost traction on an icy road and struck a power pole.

Biggerstaff was discharged from the hospital about 2 a.m. Sunday, a nursing supervisor said.
