Saint Martin's guard Riley Carel was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference's co-men's basketball player of the week Monday

Carel, an Enumclaw native, scored 29 points in two games, including 17 points, as well as career highs in assists (eight) and steals (five) in the Saints' 73-69 win over No. 11-ranked Seattle Pacific Saturday night, the Saints' third win over the Falcons in 13 seasons. Carel played for SPU his first two seasons before transferring to SMU.

The Saints (5-7 overall, 2-2 GNAC), winners of three of their past four games, hit the road this weekend at Central Washington Thursday and at Northwest Nazarene Saturday. Both games start at 7 p.m.
