Seattle Sounders exhibition plans released

Seattle Sounders FC announced a 2014 exhibition schedule Tuesday that includes training in Arizona and a tournament in South Carolina.

Preparations for the Sounders’ sixth season will begin Jan. 25 when the club reports to Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila. Four days later, the team flies to Tucson, Ariz., for 10 days of training and friendly matches against the San Jose Earthquakes on Feb. 5 and Portland Timbers on Feb. 8.

The Sounders return to the Northwest on Feb. 9 for 10 days of training before heading to Charleston, S.C., where they will join the Houston Dynamo, D.C. United and the USL Pro Charleston Battery in the annual Carolina Challenge Cup.

The club will return home March 2, to begin final preparations for the regular-season opener March 8 against defending MLS Cup champion Sporting Kansas City.
