SEATTLE — The dates of Washington’s 13 football games in 2014 were announced Wednesday. None of them will be played on a weekday.
The Huskies open the season at Hawaii on Saturday, Aug. 30, and will play their other 12 games on Saturdays, too. The NCAA allows teams that play at Hawaii to schedule an additional nonconference game to help balance travel costs, which is why UW will play 13 games this season.
UW begins its season with four nonconference games, including home games against Eastern Washington, Illinois and Georgia State. The Huskies begin Pac-12 play against Stanford on Sept. 27 at Husky Stadium.
The back end of the Huskies’ schedule is less favorable. Beginning with a bye week on Oct. 4, UW plays at home only three times in the final nine weeks of the season. They play consecutive road games only once — at California on Oct. 11, then at Oregon on Oct. 18. Other home games include Arizona State (Oct. 25), UCLA (Nov. 8) and Oregon State (Nov. 22).
The Apple Cup against Washington State will return to Saturday after it was played the past two seasons on the Friday after Thanksgiving. UW visits WSU on Nov. 29.
