This weekend, Evergreen's men's basketball team seeks its first win in Cascade Collegiate Conference play, but a coaching milestone could happen Saturday for longtime Oregon Tech coach Danny Miles.

Miles, in his 43rd season at OIT, could get his 1,000th career victory with a win at 7:30 p.m. Saturday against Evergreen at the Constantino Recreation Center (CRC) on The Evergreen State College campus.

Miles has 998 wins (second all-time among all men's college coaches) heading into this weekend's games: at Northwest on Friday before coming to Olympia to play Evergreen Saturday.

The 68-year-old Miles' career record is 998-404, leading OIT to three NAIA national titles (2004, '08, '12).

Whether Miles joins the 1,000-win club this weekend or next, he'll join Harry Statham of NCAA Div. II McKendree (Ill.) University as the only college basketball coaches with 1,000-plus victories.
