South Sound Seahawks fans dished about Saturday’s game and demonstrated their unwavering 12th Man spirit during a rally Friday at the River’s Edge sports bar at the Tumwater Valley Golf Course.

By 6:15 p.m., shortly after the party started, it was standing room only — about 170 people had filled the restaurant and bar, according to owner Patrick Knutson.

“Everybody’s super excited,” said Kelly Stowe, 42, of Tumwater, who helped organize the event. “There’s a huge crowd here.”

South Sound’s very own Sea Gal cheerleader, Stephanie Hemphill — who also is Lacey Chamber of Commerce’s new executive director — greeted fans, posed for pictures and signed autographs. There were also door prizes, special Seahawks-themed menu items, and some spontaneous chants and cheers.

The event was one of a dozen hometown rallies in Western Washington sponsored by the Sea Hawkers booster club.

“I love hanging out with other Hawks fans,” said Justin Frost, 30, of Lacey. “It’s great.”

Frost plans to watch the big game at his house, with friends and family. Everybody will be required to sit in the same seats they’ve sat in every time the Seahawks have won this season, he said.

“I think we’re going to dominate,” he said. “New Orleans can’t handle this rain.”
