The Tumwater High School dance team performed alongside the Sea Gals during the Seahawks’ divisional playoff game Saturday at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.

“It was amazing,” said senior Rachael Householder, 17. “It was the loudest applause I’ve ever heard.”

The 30-member dance team, known as the T-Bird Dancers, won three categories of the state dance championships in 2013, according to coach Kim Hille. Next year, they will compete at the Universal Dance Association’s National Dance Team Championship at Walt Disney World in Florida.

Dance teams from Issaquah, Eastlake and Kentridge also performed in the halftime show, which included fireworks and a mix of songs including AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ “Can’t Hold Us,” according to Tumwater senior Jordyn Hudson, 17.

“The crowd just had so much energy,” she said. “And it’s really true that dancing in the rain is so much better.”

Each team performed its own bit, and then the entire group danced in unison with the Sea Gals — the official cheer squad for the NFL team.

“It was very Sea Gal-ish,” Hudson said. “There were lots of hair flips. We call it hair-ography.”
