Donaven Dorsey paced Timberline with 16 points, and the Blazers upended host North Thurston, 45-42, in 3A Narrows action in Lacey. Timberline (7-5, 3-2) remained in third place in the league standings.
Round 1 for girls basketball bragging rights in Lacey went to Timberline, which overwhelmed host North Thurston, 59-23, behind a triple-double from Callan Russell (14 points, 11 steals, 10 rebounds). The Blazers (6-6, 4-1 3A Narrows), who shot 49 percent from the floor, remained tied for second place behind Wilson in league. The Rams dropped to 6-6 overall, 3-3 in league.
Tiffani Ferrell poured in 16 points, and host Central Kitsap bolted out to a big lead early before holding off Olympia, 59-52, in 4A Narrows action in Silverdale. The Cougars (10-3, 4-2), who broke out to a 23-11 first-quarter advantage, remained in second place behind Bellarmine Prep while the Bears fell to fourth.
