Public meeting set for Chambers Lake stormwater project in Lacey

Staff writerJanuary 16, 2014

The city of Lacey is set to hold a public meeting to discuss the stormwater treatment wetland project at Little Chambers Lake.

The meeting is set for 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at Lacey City Hall, 420 College St. N.E.

The stormwater treatment site -- 2750 Lakeview Drive S.E. -- will treat stormwater flows from College Street and surrounding neighbors.

The project is expected to improve the water quality of the lake and enhance its shoreline with habitat, open space and new wetland-specific plantings, according to a news release. A street connection and pedestrian access will be part of the city-owned, 7-acre site.

Partial funding for the project will be provided by a $1 million grant from the state Department of Ecology. Construction is expected to begin in August and last through June 2015.
