Sheriff's office says burglar shot in leg by Lacey-area homeowner

A couple returned to their home north of Lacey Tuesday night to find a burglar who the homeowner then shot in the leg, the Thurston County Sheriff's Office said.

The office first reported the shooting via twitter just after 9:30 p.m.

The burglary suspect was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries after the shooting, which happened after the couple saw the suspect and a confrontation ensued in the 6900 block of Puget Beach Road Northeast, the office said.

KIRO-TV reported that the burglary suspect's injuries were not life-threatening.
