No one was injured in a house fire that occurred about 1 a.m. Saturday in unincorporated Thurston County.

The East Olympia Fire District 6 responded to the scene. A passerby reported seeing a house on fire at 8846 Spurgeon Creek Road. The fire had spread from the fireplace through the walls and ended up completely engulfing the roof, according to Fire Chief Melvin Low. The house’s lone occupant is now staying with friends, Low said.

The Lacey Fire District 3 and Thurston County Fire District 12 also responded to the scene. Much of the house was destroyed. The damage to the house is estimated at about $150,000, Low said.
