Winter postseason heats up this weekend with boys swimming, girls bowling

The winter postsesaon begins this weekend with two district girls bowling tournaments and the 4A/3A Narrows League boys swimming championships. 

The Southwest District IV 3A/2A bowling tournament starts at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Vancouver's Crosley Bowl where Black Hills, the 2A Evergreen Conference regular-season champion, looks to qualify for state as a team for the fifth time in six years. The top three teams and top six individuals not on state-qualifying teams advance to the state tournament Feb. 7-8 at Narrows Plaza. 

Saturday, starting at 9 a.m., is the West Central District III bowling tournament at Tacoma's Pacific Lanes, where North Thurston and Timberline are favorites to claim the team title. The top four 3A/2A teams and top six individuals not on state-qualifying teams advance to state.

The one-day 4A and 3A Narrows League boys swimming championships are Friday at Mount Tahoma starting at 4 p.m. where North Thurston, Timberline and Shelton in 3A, as well as Olympia in 4A, will compete.
