Saint Martin's softball team, which kicks off its 2014 season this weekend in California, opens the season ranked No. 12 in the first National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Coaches poll of the season after its 41-16 campaign a year ago. The Saints are the second West Coast team to be ranked in the Top 25, joining Humboldt State, which defeated SMU in last year's regional.

The Saints, led by reigning GNAC player of the year, Lacey McGladrey, and GNAC pitcher of the year, Sam Munger, open their season with a pair of games against Cal Baptist Saturday and Cal State Bernardino Sunday.
