Learn from Power Squadron

Boat operators can make their experience safer by taking the America’s Boating Course offered by the Tacoma Power Squadron. The next class starts Feb. 13.


The Tacoma Power Squadron is offering a 12-hour America’s Boating Course starting Feb. 13.

The class will meet Thursday nights for six sessions. The last session on March 20 will be the exam. There also will be an on-the-water component to be offered one Saturday during the course, depending on the weather and student interest.

The course will include general information on boats and personal watercraft, boat safety and boating laws, and regulations.

The class will begin at 7 p.m. at Angler’s Marine, 14606 Pacific Ave. S., Suite F, Tacoma. In-person registration begins at 6:30 p.m.

The cost of the course is $60 a person. The cost includes a student manual, a plotting kit and fuel for the on-the-water portion of the class.
