Animals say so: Seahawks win!

The OlympianFebruary 2, 2014

We hope Seahawks owner Paul Allen and coach Peter Carroll hoist the Lombardi Trophyon Sunday, claiming victory in the Super Bowl and bringing some national respect to professional sports in the Northwest.

During the regular season, the national sports media largely ignored the Seahawks. They remain obsessed with East Coast teams. It’s time to change that bias, and winning the big game would help.

The Vegas oddsmakers favor the Broncos, as do many of the aforementioned pundits. But our money (figuratively speaking, of course) is on the Legion of Boom!

Because this game is being played on Groundhog Day, the most accurate predictions are obviously coming from the animal kingdom.

Our money is on Teddy Bear the Porcupine, who lectures at Zooniversity, a traveling company that educates people about wildlife. He’s accurately predicted the last two Super Bowl winners, and this year says the prickly Seahawks will beat those other guys.

Hugh, a manatee that resides in the Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota, Fla., also picks the Seahawks, although his half-brother, Buffett, is going with the Denver Broncos. Baloney, we say. What do manatee half-brothers know about football?

Go Hawks!
