Opinion: Seahawks have a winner’s heart

The OlympianFebruary 5, 2014

On the day of the Super Bowl championship parade, consider that the Seahawks scored game-changing points in the first 12 seconds of Sunday’s Super Bowl and the second half. Russell Wilson threw for 206 yards (remind you of an area code?).

Some people might put stock in such things, but we’d attribute Seattle’s first Super Bowl victory to the positive, can-do attitude of this team, as represented in this post-game quote from Russell Wilson, only the second African-American quarterback to win the big game.

“It doesn’t matter what you look like. It doesn’t matter if you’re black, white, Latino, Asian. It doesn’t matter if you’re 5 feet 11. It doesn’t matter how many people tell you no. It’s the heart that you have. That’s (what) I try to prove every day.”

Amen to that.
