OlympianFebruary 7, 2014

Temporary lane closures and traffic interruptions should be expected near the intersection of Fifth Avenue SW and Bates Street SW in Tumwater, beginningFeb. 10, according to a news release from the city.

Workers will replace a deteriorating storm pipe that runs diagonally through the intersection. The roadway will remain open; however, there will be lane closures and delays throughout the day. There will be steel plates covering the trench during the construction period. Work may take up to two weeks to complete.

Emergency vehicles and school buses will have priority access through the construction zone. Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes.

Call the City of Tumwater Public Works Department at (360) 754-4140 with construction questions or concerns.
