Football fans missed Chinese Lion Dance

OlympiaFebruary 8, 2014

W hat a shame for those who missed the Chinese Lion Dance last Sunday celebrating Chinese New Year. It took place at 1600 Cooper Point Road SW (next to Office Depot and across the street from Barnes & Noble). Unfortunately it was overshadowed by the Super Bowl but took place at 11:30 a.m., well before game time. It was superbly performed by members of the Chinese community with lion costumes to delight kids of all ages — particularly the younger set. It was short, it was spectacular, and a delightful bit of exposure to a culture that is an important trade partner. This delightful performance deserves a much bigger audience. If it’s repeated next year, don’t miss it. Take the kids. They’ll love these friendly lions. The price is right (free).
