Seattle Sounders FC played to a scoreless draw with the Portland Timbers in a preseason friendly Saturday in Tucson, Ariz.

Seattle moved to 2-0-1 in exhibition matches.

Coach Sigi Schmid went with a starting lineup of goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann; defenders DeAndre Yedlin, Chad Marshall, Djimi Traore and Dylan Remick; midfielders Tristan Bowen, Brad Evans, Osvaldo Alonso and Lamar Neagle; and forwards Obafemi Martins and Kenny Cooper.

The Sounders’ shutout was preserved by reserve defender Jalil Anibaba, who cleared a ball off the line in the 90th minute.

The friendly marked the first game action for Evans and Yedlin since their return from duty with the U.S. national team. The game was divided into three 30-minute periods.

Seattle will conclude the Arizona portion of its training Sunday against the Vancouver Whitecaps. The Sounders will play later this month in the Carolina Challenge Cup in Charleston, S.C.
