The Thurston County Coroner's Office has identified a 74-year-old woman struck by a car and killed in Lacey Wednesday night as Mariepaz Lockwood.

Lockwood died of multiple blunt force injuries after she was struck while trying to cross the road at Ruddell Road and 19th Avenue SE in Lacey.

Lacey Police Sgt. Shannon Barnes said Wednesday night the crash was under investigation, but there was no evidence that a crime occurred. The driver stopped immediately after hitting the woman about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Barnes has said.

The crash occurred soon after a downpour of rain hit Thurston County, Barnes added.
