After 65 years, he sees no school tax benefits

OlympiaFebruary 14, 2014

I want to echo the Feb. 7 letter “State lottery should pay for school levies.” I received a phone call the other night from a lady wanting me to vote in favor of the money for schools. I informed her it was a bad thing to give the schools more money.

Most of the people who call us are taxpayers, same as us. They for the most part are put to test in some way, or other, to do or lose your job. I’ve read that they need money to tear down schools that were built when Ike (Dwight Eisenhower) was president and replace them. I told her if they’d been taken care of with the money we’ve paid they would not need to be replaced. I’ve stayed in places here and abroad that were built from 200 to 1,200 years ago and are still in great shape.

I’ve been paying school taxes for 65 years, and what have I gotten for it?
