Climate change will make future uncertain

OlympiaFebruary 16, 2014

The environment is in the news recently. Several letter writers have referred to oil transport, a call to protect our forests. Elsewhere I read the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is preparing to make available permits authorizing the wind industry to kill bald or golden eagles without prosecution (for 30 years).

No matter how you look at it, the industrial world doesn’t give a hoot about protecting or saving the environment. Leave it to big oil, the timber or mining industry; they would eagerly strip the planet, on the surface or under it — and call it creating jobs.

In addition, climate change is bringing about an intolerable existence, i.e. extermination, for many species. Man will surely follow in an uncertain future.

The Olympian is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
