Cyclists also drive cars, pay gas taxes

OlympiaFebruary 22, 2014

P hil Wiatrak’s letter regarding user fees for highways states that cyclists don’t pay for the cost of building bike lanes. He assumes that cyclists don’t pay gas taxes. I am sure that a very small number of cyclists don’t drive cars, but the majority of us do, and we all pay gas taxes just as he does. Using his logic, we could say “I don’t walk on sidewalks, so I don’t want to pay for them.” And so on and so on and so on.
