Today is Tuesday, March 11, the 58th day of the 60-day legislative session.

NOTEWORTHY

The House and Senate passed resolutions Monday honoring the Navy and men and women serving overseas. Monday marked the annual recognition of Navy Appreciation Day.

Members of the Daffodil Festival court, including newly crowned Queen Marissa Modestowicz, were recognized Monday in the House and Senate. Modestowicz, a student at Emerald Ridge High School, was crowned queen Friday evening.

Senate Bill 5881 was heard in the Senate Ways and Means Committee Monday morning. Introduced by Sen. Andy Hill, R-Redmond, the legislation would require that two-thirds of any expenditures of new revenue by the state be allocated to K-12 education, higher education and early learning programs.

TUESDAY IN THE LEGISLATURE

The House Health Care and Wellness Committee will hold a work session to discuss strategies to reduce hepatitis C in Washington. The hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. in Hearing Room B of the John L. O’Brien Building.

The House Education Committee will hold a work session to discuss creating high school science and math courses for students headed for technical and career colleges. The meeting is scheduled for 8 a.m. in Hearing Room A of the John L. O’Brien Building.

WEDNESDAY IN THE LEGISLATURE

An update on the water supply forecast is scheduled for 8 a.m. in the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee in Hearing Room C of the John L. O’Brien Building.
