A reminder that some work in rainy weather

OlympiaMarch 17, 2014

Today I was glum as I began to do errands. It was raining. Again. I cringed at the thought of slogging through another wet parking lot, and peering through the swiping of the windshield wipers.

Then I turned onto 41st Street and saw the utility crew that has been working all week to replace and improve our electric lines. There were sign crews directing traffic and other workers unloading heavy gear. I was reminded how many people work in all sorts of weather to keep the rest of us in power, gas and water.

Thank you, road and utility workers. Life would be so hard without your all-weather contributions.
