Some vacant property will fall to retail use

A s a longtime youth coach and sports official, I am always receptive to the concept of additional recreation facilities being made available to the community. With that in mind, it is a shame that Valerie Esquibel is not independently wealthy. It would have been rewarding for her to be able to purchase the land, clear the site and construct a regional park for all to enjoy. She could also, hopefully, underwrite the ongoing maintenance afterward. With the current budget shortfalls, it is sadly inevitable that a desirable site will fall to commercial use. The only bright spot is that we do have the Regional Athletic Complex and the possibility that our grocery prices may experience a slight decline.
