The Thurston County Commissioners will hold at public hearing on six proposed amendments to the comprehensive plan at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Thurston County Courthouse, 2000 Lakeridge Dr. SW, Olympia. The hearing will be in Building One, Room 152.
The proposed changes involve:
*A change in the land use plan from residential 4 to 8 units per acre to residential multifamily 18 and rezone about nine acres at 9th Avenue Southeast and Chambers Street Southeast.
*Addition of a single parcel to the Rainier Urban Growth Area. The site features the Rainier Fire Station.
*Land use plan amendment and rezoning of about 72 acres of North Thurston Public Schools property at 4101 Marvin Road NW. The property would go from rural land use to open space/institutional to allow construction of a future high school, middle school and ancillary structures.
*Rezone from residential 4 units per acre to residential low impact 2-4 dwellings per acre near Ken Lake. The amendment would make interim regulations in the area permanent.
*Re-designate 188.5 acres of property, known as the Schader Crown Ranch, from rural residential/resource one dwelling per five acres to long-term agriculture.
*Changes in language in the comprehensive plan and four zoning ordinances to be consistent with state law, recent case law and amendments to the county code that were adopted in 2011.
