Will the planet survive more than two decades?

I

am wondering why our local and national leaders are not engaging the entire world community in realizing the extreme danger that global warming presents for all living things on the planet? According to recent science — NOAA and NASA — our polar ice caps are melting more rapidly than expected, our oceans are warming and acidifying faster than forecast. This will rapidly cause the death of our oceans, and without them this planet cannot support life. Some forecast this could happen as soon as 20 years. I for one, would like to see a tomorrow for my children, grandchildren and their children. If we don’t take drastic action today, tomorrow may be too late.
