She objected to private exchange with developers

Thank you for your article “Olympia planning commissioners’ meetings criticized.” I appreciate the thorough work done by Andy Hobbs. I just wanted to clarify a couple of points in the article that weren’t entirely clear.

First, it states that I “raised an objection to the meetings because one of the participants was developer M-Five Family Limited Partnership, which has an interest in a proposed zoning amendment that is under consideration by the planning commission.” This fact was not my primary objection. I objected to the meetings being a private exchange between commission members and developers.

Second, it notes that, “Two commissioners had requested informational meetings for Jan. 31 and March 3 with members of the development community.” This might sound like two commissioners requested separate meetings for themselves only. What happened was someone invited all nine commissioners and five actually attended. My concern was the attendance of a majority of planning commission members at meetings where the public was not invited.
