Four people were injured in a collision late Friday night on Highway 12 in Rochester.
The two-car collision occurred about 8:42 p.m. at milepost 43. According to the Washington State Patrol, the driver of a red Chevrolet pickup truck attempted to pass a silver GMC Yukon, and ended up striking the vehicle.
Both vehicles came to a stop off the roadway. The road was closed for four hours as troopers investigated the scene.
The truck’s two occupants were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The truck’s driver, a 22-year-old Centralia man, was arrested on charges of DUI and vehicular assault after troopers observed signs of alcohol impairment, said Trooper Guy Gill. The passenger, a 20-year-old Centralia woman, had serious injuries, Gill said. Their condition is unknown at this time.
The two female occupants of the Yukon suffered minor injuries in the accident, Gill said. They were transported to Providence Centralia Hospital.
