Shelton — The CHOICE Alternative High School Outdoor Club invites the public to a screening of the documentary, "High and Hallowed:Everest 1963" 7 p.m., April 4, in the Shelton High School auditorium, 3737 Shelton Springs Road, Shelton.
The documentary tells the story of the pioneering ascent of the west ridge of Mount Everest on May 22, 1963 by Willi Unsoeld and Tom Hornbein. The film relies on footage and radio recordings from the 1963 expedition, and documents a 2013 attempt to repeat the 1963 route.
The event, which is a fundraiser for the high school's outdoor club, will include a question and answer session with Krag Unsoeld, a CHOICE High School teacher and son of Willi Unsoeld.
Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 the day of the show. Children 10 and under will be admitted free. Tickets are available at Sage Books in Shelton and Rainy Day Records, Traditions Cafe and Centro/the Bike Stand (formerly the Alpine Experience) in Olympia.
