What a difference a garbage man can make

OlympiaApril 1, 2014

Two years ago, our daughter brought a friend, Flo, home from London for Halloween week. They took a trip to Seattle — lunch at the Space Needle, a shopping spree, a walk through the Public Market, a ferry ride and an evening at a Bothell haunted house. We dressed up on Halloween and passed out treats to 400 trick-or-treaters.

Before she left, we asked Flo for her most memorable experience. She said the morning the garbage man allowed her to video tape him picking up our waste and dumping it high in a truck. He then gave her a lollipop, tooted his horn twice and was on his way.

What a public servant of 25 years. Thanks David Lobe.
