Olympia’s first strip club is a reality after the owner announced Tuesday that the business at 3200 Pacific Ave. will open at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
The business, which cleared its final hurdles with the city last week, expects to open with 30 to 40 exotic dancers and a staff of 14, longtime owner Levi Bussanich said.
There’s also an adult video business on site — first known as Desire Video, later to become Desire — which shares space with the new strip club.
Bussanich opened that business in the area in 1997, and it moved into the current location in 2001.
Desire will have a $10 cover charge and customers also are required to buy one soft drink for $10. It is not allowed to serve alcohol.
After Bussanich announced his plans for a strip club at the end of January, including a two-day hiring period, the response was overwhelming, he said.
The announcement attracted about 160 applicants during that two-day period, and since then the business has collected 250 to 300 applications for all positions, including dancers, Bussanich said.
But the Olympia City Council also responded to the new business by tweaking the city’s adult entertainment code, raising the cost of applications for owners, managers and entertainers at adult-oriented businesses.
City building official Tom Hill said Bussanich has met all of his licensing requirements, including those related to fire and building codes.
On Friday, the strip club is open 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday.Rolf Boone: 360-754-5403 firstname.lastname@example.org
