Car accident in Tumwater sends two to the hospital

A car accident northbound on Interstate 5 in Tumwater Saturday morning resulted in two people being taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital.

According to the Washington State Patrol:

About 10:15 a.m. Saturday, a 20-year-old Tacoma man was northbound on Interstate 5, approaching Trosper Road, when he attempted a lane change, lost control and then struck another vehicle.

After the collision, both vehicles wound up on the right side of the freeway, one up an embankment and the other on the grass.

The Tacoma man and the second vehicle's passenger -- a 21-year-old Vancouver woman -- were taken to the hospital.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 49-year-old Olympia man, was not injured.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
