Developer George Heidgerken, who owns the historic brick brewhouse in Tumwater below Tumwater falls, has a made a $2.2 million offer for a former paper mill in Oregon City, Ore., according to a story published Friday on The Oregonian newspaper website.
According to the story:
Heidgerken and John Potter, doing business as Megarock LLC, offered $2.2 million for the Blue Heron property. It measures 23 acres and has been on the market for three years after the company filed bankruptcy and closed in early 2011.
The mill flanks the Willamette River at Oregon City, which is near Portland.
A bankruptcy court hearing on the sale is set for May 1. If approved, Megarock is expected to close the deal by May 7.
Heidgerken is no stranger to Thurston County after he and a business partner paid $1.4 million for the former Olympia brewhouse, two parking lots and 32 acres of property around it in fall 2010.
Heidgerken also owns a former Olympia brewery warehouse on Custer Way.
Both properties have been cleaned up since his purchase -- and several development ideas have been pitched for the properties -- but no firm redevelopment plan has emerged for either building.
That's not the only Thurston County connection to the former paper mill in Oregon City.
An Irvine, Calif., company called Eclipse Development Group, which also made an offer for the former paper mill in Oregon City last summer, showed interest at one time in developer Tri Vo's former Lacey Gateway property in Hawks Prairie.
That property was later purchased by the Nisqually tribe and Mon Wig, a developer from Bellevue.
