Slurp 2014 4:30 p.m. April 27 at Fish Tale Brewpub, 515 Jefferson St. SE, Olympia. SLURP – which stands for Shellfish Lovers Ultimate Rejuvenation Party – is a fundraiser for the Pacific Coast Shellfish Growers Association, now in its 16th year. Feast on local fresh-off-the-beach shellfish, prepared by the area’s best restaurants. Enjoy the Grand Oyster Bar, local microbrews and Washington wines. Listen to live music, and take in the oyster-slurping contest and a live auction. All proceeds benefit habitat restoration or outreach and educational efforts. Wishes for Whiskers Covenant Creatures Companion Animal program is hosting a charity auction and entertainment beginning at 5 p.m. May 17 at the Heritage Room, 604 Water St. SW, Olympia. Enjoy a cocktail hour from 5-6 p.m., with a catered dinner at 6:30 p.m. The evening will also feature a family-friendly comedy show, and a live silent auction. Run for Rett 5k run, 3k walk and kids dash The Run for Rett supports the Northwest Rett Syndrome Foundation. Start is 9 a.m. June 7 at Tumwater Historical Park, 777 Simmons Road SW, Olympia. Concern for Animals needs dog, cat, rabbit, guinea pig, bird and chicken food; cat litter; beds, blankets and towels in good condition; pet toys; dog houses, carriers and crates; leashes and collars; and gift cards to any outlet that sells pet food and supplies.
