Thurston County sheriff's deputies have arrested a 30-year-old suspect in connection with last week's armed robbery of the Whistle Stop Grocery north of Tenino.
The suspect was identified by someone who recognized him from surveillance footage of the April 3 armed robbery.
During the robbery, the suspect pointed a firearm at a store employee, Thurston County Sheriff's Lt. Greg Elwin said.
The suspect fled the store after taking about $800, Elwin said. Deputies later learned that the suspect's firearm was actually a BB pistol, he added.
The suspect admitted to the crime when he was arrested Thursday morning at his home in Tenino, Elwin said. The suspect told deputies he committed the crime because he needed money for heroin, Elwin added.
The suspect will have his first appearance in Thurston County Superior Court on Friday.
