Olympia's Kimya Dawson and hip hop artist Ian Bavitz (aka Aesop Rock), collaborating as The Uncluded, will perform music from their debut album, Hokey Fright, at the Olympia Timberland Library from 8:30 to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22.

The two artists wrote, performed, and recorded the album, with the exception of the drums on "Delicate Cycle." The after-hours library concert is the first stop on the band's tour in support of the album – and the only one with free admission. They next head to New York City.

The name of the band comes from the term “unclude” coined by writer and artist Michael Bernard Loggins, which he says means keeping things you don't appreciate out of your life. According to the band's website, rhymesayers.com, both artists have experienced loss in recent years and much of the album maintains a serious tone. But it also says "Dawson and Rock's oddball humor plays an integral part in humanizing the obstacles that can initially seem too massive to process."

Dawson is a Grammy-winning, platinum-selling singer songwriter most widely known for her work on the "Juno" soundtrack and with her former band, The Moldy Peaches. She has released seven solo albums, including a children's album "Alphabutt". Aesop Rock is known for his dense and abstract word play. He has released six albums.

The Olympia Timberland Library is at 313 Eighth Ave. SE. For more information, call 360-352-0595 or visit www.TRL.org.
