Gunn’s direction will cost Thurston taxpayers more

OlympiaApril 13, 2014

I read with interest Port of Olympia Commissioner Sue Gunn’s comments on fracking. I too oppose fracking, but believe it can only be effectively dealt with by state and federal governments. To oppose the Port of Olympia handling fracking sands would only reduce the port’s profitability and increase the subsidy needed, This in turn affects the tax burden on the people of Thurston County.

I believe Gunn was elected on doing exactly the opposite. The Port of Olympia Commission is not a platform for espousing environmental concerns. It exists to oversee port operations to make them more efficient and profitable.

The Olympian is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news.
