Mothers have access to local emergency care

OlympiaApril 14, 2014

I was moved by the story in The Olympian today of a mother who left her children in a hot car in order to go to a job interview. That never needs to happen here because we have Margie’s Crisis Nursery that can provide short term emergency child care. It is managed by the Child Care Action Council and financially supported by Zonta Club of Olympia and community donations.

All a parent needs to do is call 360-786-8907, ext. 100, and request care. A phone counselor will arrange free short-term child care at a licensed child care center. We can’t serve everyone on limited funds but let’s try to make sure this never see this happen in our communities.

The Olympian is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
