Garrett Terrell struck out eight batters in a five-hit shutout and scored the winning run in the seventh to lead Tumwater to its ninth straight victory, a 1-0 win over Centralia in 2A Evergreen Conference baseball. The teams meet again Wednesday in Tumwater.

W.F. West starter Anthony Painter gave up one earned run on six hits over four innings and was 2-for-4 with four RBIs in the Bearcats’ 13-3 five-inning win over Black Hills in the 2A EvCo.

Capital’s Noah Bennett-Chong reached base three times — including a fifth-inning double — but the Cougars lost to Aberdeen, 6-4.

In fastpitch, Taylor Owens and Rachel Erickson each had a grand slam in Capital’s 12-3 win over Aberdeen in the 2A EvCo. Winning pitcher Britni Wilson had two hits for the Cougars.

In girls tennis, Yelm won at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles — including Emma Charlston’s 6-3, 6-3 win at the top singles spot — but Mount Tahoma topped the Tornados, 3-2, in a nonleague match.

In boys soccer, Ryan Erikson’s tie-breaking goal in the 78th minute gave Timberline a 2-1 victory over Lincoln in the 3A Narrows League.
