Pocket gopher is not one of our vital issues

OlympiaApril 17, 2014

It was with a sense of great relief that I learned of the pocket gophers rescue from oblivion. Many sleepless nights have I suffered as government officials and the Center for Biological Diversity addressed the issue. Because these creatures exist only in Pierce and Thurston counties, I am confident that tourists from all over the world have traveled here to view this animal. I ask you: How convenient would it be had the same effort been made on behalf of the saber-toothed tiger — or the many other prehistoric creatures which once inhabited the Earth?

At this point in time, we have some very vital issues confronting us. In my humble opinion, the Mazama pocket gopher is not one of them.
