Legal notice: Tumwater hotel developer seeks permit to exceed building height limit

A new La Quinta Inn & Suites in Tumwater, which has been proposed at 4600 Capitol Boulevard SE, is not a reality just yet.

After the contractor on the project announced in January that work was set to begin, the developer -- Sohal Hotels of Auburn -- is now seeking a conditional use permit to exceed a building height limit of 50 feet within the city's mixed use zone district.

The highest point of the proposed building is 73 feet, according to the legal notice. The contractor in January said the hotel would be an 80-unit, four-story building.

The conditional use permit application also triggers a public hearing before the Tumwater Hearing Examiner, although no date has been set yet.

A public hearing notice will be issued a minimum of 10 days prior to the scheduled hearing date, according to the legal notice.
