Olympia High School announces newest athletic Hall of Fame class; induction ceremony April 26

Olympia High School has announced its newest athletic hall of fame class, honoring five inductees and recognizing five state championship teams for its four annual athletic Hall of Fame induction Saturday night (April 26) at the high school.

Doors open at 5 p.m. for the dinner, auction and induction ceremony. Cost is $25 and tickets may be purchased at ohsgrowlathletics.com.

The inductees, selected by the high school's committee members, are: longtime volleyball coach Laurie Creighton (lifetime achievement award; coached two state title teams and 17 top-eight state trophies), Mel Melin (Class of 1958; all-state football player, eventually quarterbacked at WSU, CFL), Brian Boulac (1960; 10-time letterman, played football at Notre Dame), Cheryl Brandell (1984, 3-sport athlete, all-state basketball player, 4-year starter at Montana) and Jessie McLaughlin (2001, all-state cross country and track and field runner, ran at Arizona State).

The ceremony also will honor five state championship teams: 1929 boys basketball, 1984 football, 1996 and ‘98 girls golf, and 1998 volleyball.
