Dick Pust to be honored for half-century commitment to community

A fixture in the south sound broadcasting community for decades radio personality Dick Pust now hosts a weekly interview show titled "In Your Community" on KXXO Mixx 96 fm in Olympia.......Feb 15,2013 photo of Dick Pust on the air.

Olympia's Puget Sounders men's chorus will present local radio personality, Dick Pust, with an award Saturday, for his more than 50 years of service to the community.

Pust will narrate a musical revue, "The Golden Age of Radio," beginning at 7 p.m., at the Olympia Center, 222 Columbia St. NW, in Olympia.

Dick Pust began his career at KGY, in 1959, at the age of 19, when he was hired as a receptionist. He started his first "on air" job a year later.

Pust is the recipient of the Broadcaster of the Year award from the Washington State Association of Broadcasters, and has been recognized by the National Association of Broadcasters as one of the nation's top radio personalities.

A graduate of Olympia High School, Pust has been inducted into the school's Hall of Fame.

He is also a graduate of Saint Martin's University, in Lacey, and has been named one of that institution's distinguished alumni.

He currently does a weekly radio show, called "It's Your Community," on KXXO-FM, and writes a monthly feature for FTM magazine which is circulated among state employees.

The public is invited to attend the event, and tickets are available for $15 for general admission; $10 for senior citizens.
