The husband-and-wife team of Jeff and Stevie Olson are at it again, opening a second business in April after they went into business nearly six years ago with Hawks Prairie Home Furnishings in Lacey.
The new business is Lola Lifestyle Boutique, a women’s clothes and accessories store in downtown Olympia on Capitol Way.
But while the couple is again involved with another business, the new venture largely is The Stevie Olson Show. She’s been interested in fashion for most of her life and wanted to be downtown.
“I have loved downtown since I was in high school,” she said, adding that she is a supporter of downtown and that she believes it’s about to experience an upswing.
She’s also joined the Olympia Downtown Association and wants to get involved in other ways, such as hosting a Yoga in the Park event at Sylvester Park and participating in Girls Night Out, a downtown shopping event.
She’s also about creating a different shopping experience at her store.
Walk into Lola and the lighting, design — including reclaimed lumber from a barn in Ellensburg — and color scheme feel chic. There’s also a seating area in the store where customers can sit and enjoy a beverage. Olson, 28, said she’s working toward securing a liquor license for the business. And there’s a plan to have a doorman work at Lola, she said.
Beyond the amenities, the business is about clothes.
Olson is fond of Australian fashion brands — she likes the materials they use and the cut of the clothes — so she carries Tigerlily, Ebony Eve and Blesse’d Are the Meek fashions, to name a few. There’s also a selection of denim for women and accessories, such as recycled bronze jewelry made by Tiffany Kunz, and yoga outfits by Beyond Yoga.
Jordyn Richardson, a student at Saint Martin’s University who also plays on the women’s basketball team, discovered the store and Olson though social media. She was so taken by the business that she applied to work there and now is a part-time employee.
“I love fashion and I love dressing up” said Richardson, 21.
She also couldn’t think of another store quite like Lola.
“There are just a bunch of good vibes that are going on down there,” she said.
