Put anti-fracking energy toward something positive

TumwaterApril 28, 2014

Some people appear to think that if they can stop the Port of Olympia’s importing of fracking sand, it will put an end to fracking. It is not that simple.

It would have minimal, if any, impact. There are plenty of other ports that would take up the slack. Example: Everett, Seattle, Tacoma, Grays Harbor, Longview, Portland, Coos Bay, the many ports in California and even Mexico and Canada.

Maybe a better approach would be to take another look at the bigger picture. Perhaps find an area to focus all that precious time, money, energy and people power on that would have more positive results.

The Olympian is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
