UPDATE: The Thurston County Coroner has identified a motorcyclist who died Monday after a crash in Rainier as Barry W. Harris, 38.

Harris' autopsy to determine his cause and manner of death is scheduled for Wednesday, Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock said.

PREVIOUS STORY: A motorcyclist in the Rainier area died Monday morning after he struck a box truck about 10:30 a.m., according to the Thurston County Sheriff's Office.

The motorcyclist was traveling on Koeppen Road when the box truck traveling in the opposite direction made a left turn from Koeppen Road onto Horizon Pioneer Road, Thurston County Sheriff's Det. Cameron Simper said.

The motorcyclist struck the side of the truck and was ejected, Simper said. The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, died from the impact of the crash, he added.

Simper said he would not release the name of the motorcyclist, because next of kin had not yet been notified. The deceased motorcyclist is in his late 30s, he said.
