SOUTH SOUND HIGHLIGHTS

River Ridge freshman Ben Maratita tossed a three-hit shutout, striking out four Capital batters in the Hawks’ 6-0 win over the Cougars in 2A Evergreen Conference baseball.

Winning pitcher Luke Hare went 2-for-3 and Clayton Boze was 2-for-4 with an RBI, lifting Tumwater to a 7-2 victory, its seventh straight, over Black Hills in 2A EvCo baseball.

Brandon Olson gave up three runs on four hits and struck out six over four innings in Timberline’s 12-3 3A Narrows League baseball win over Shelton. Matt Mercer (home run, triple, 5 RBI) and Ryan Connor (double, 2 RBI) helped the Timberline cause.

Capital pounded out a season-best 22 hits in a 12-9 win over River Ridge in 2A EvCo fastpitch softball. The Cougars were paced by four hits apiece from Kaitlin Mastin and Britni Wilson, who had two doubles and scored three runs.

Olympia pitcher Maddy Stensby struck out 11 batters to increase her strikeout total to 62 over the past five games in a 4-2 win over South Kitsap in 4A Narrows League fastpitch. Adrianna Rupright and Erin Roloff combined for four of the Bears’ seven hits, including Rupright’s solo home run in the sixth inning.
