RICHLAND — Jourdan Williams’ two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth inning capped Western Oregon’s late comeback to beat Saint Martin’s 3-1 in the first round of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference softball tournament on Thursday at Columbia Playfields.

The Saints (26-21) will play a loser-out contest at 4:30 p.m. Friday against Western Washington (30-13), which lost 8-7 to Central Washington.

Top-seeded Western Oregon scored three runs in the final two innings for the come-from-behind win to advance to play Central at 2 p.m. Friday.

The Saints led 1-0 on freshman Jackie Schmaeling’s run in the third inning after she opening the inning with a bunt single.

That lead held until the bottom of the seventh, when Western Oregon tied the game on Melanie Pfeiffer’s RBI double. Williams then won it with a homer.

SMU finished with five hits; junior outfielder Taviah Jenkins was 2-for-3.

Starting pitcher Sam Munger allowed three earned runs on nine hits and struck out five Wolves batters in all 7 innings.
